The Tolbooth is almost 400 years old, and was the crossing point for the main streets of Glasgow. I love that it still stands, full of history, (even though a lot of it grim) watching the ever changing city. A few years ago I had reason to visit A&E up at the Royal at 4 in the morning (turned out to be a burst ear drum). It was a really cold misty night and I remember thinking as I was walking up the High Street how haunted it would be. The Necropolis at the top, the Cathedral, the Provand's lordship, a jail, a tower where they hung people, a mortuary at the bottom. I tell you though, after I made my way back home with some strong pain killers, I couldn't have cared less and slept like a happy baby.
